The problem
Small and mid-sized businesses with distributed or on-site staff run attendance on paper, on WhatsApp, or on trust. Payroll, leave and expense reimbursement all inherit the inaccuracy of that first record. Fix the record and the processes above it become tractable. Fix the processes first and you have built reporting on top of a guess.
What we built
An attendance core, then the operations layer that attendance makes possible. The core is verified presence: clock in and clock out with facial recognition and geofencing, so the record establishes both who and where.
On top of it sit leave requests and approvals, payment requests for official expenditure, one-to-one chat between staff and management, analytics, and PDF report generation for anything that has to leave the system.
Payroll and vacancy management came later, in that order, once the record beneath them was reliable enough to compute against. Recent releases added business statistics to the vacancy and insights modules, and bulk undo across draft and finalised payroll, the kind of feature you build when real payroll runs are happening and real mistakes need reversing.
The decision underneath
Ophiz is one product in a suite rather than one product pretending to be a suite. Hiring proper lives in a dedicated application, ZuperHire, alongside ZuperTask, AssetCop, Targetoz and IssueCop. Keeping recruitment out of the attendance app was deliberate: the two have different users, different cadences and different data. Bolting them together would have compromised both.
